Professor Gilbertson is currently a M.D. Anderson Professor in the Chemistry Department at University of Houston and Co-Director of University of Houston, Institute for Molecular Discovery and Design.
Research interests of Gilbertson group include: 1) Use of target and diversity orientated synthesis in drug development. 2) The development of methods for the parallel synthesis of small molecules to facilitate their screening for biological activity. 3) The total synthesis of biologically important natural products. 4) Synthesis of building blocks that allow for the construction of libraries of transition metal complexes by combinatorial methods.
So far, Professor Gilbertson has published more than 70 papers and obtained several patents in the areas of medical chemistry, pharmacology, combinational chemistry and organic chemistry. Besides, He won the 2002 Saint Louis Award given by the Saint Louis Section of the ACS and Adjunct Faculty Appointment at Rice University.
